While Thor is a big and brawny guy that is where his likeness to his namesake the Norse God of Thunder ends. He is more of a lover than a warrior and needs to find a new home due to an illness in his family. Thor is very friendly and excited to meet new people and get a belly rub. He loves to get for out walks and exercise. He asks that his new family is active which will help keep him fit and happy. As you may have guessed by his size he is a strong puller but is responsive to commands to redirect his energy and power. Indoors he is a pretty mellow guy.
Thor recently got caught out overnight in a storm which has left him a bit anxious and he would appreciate a family who can help him work through that. His routine got disrupted and he wants to get back to having fun all the time and being the wonderful companion that he has been to his past owner for four years. Thor would be fine in a family with teen kids but is too powerful for little ones. He has not had much time with other dogs and may be ok with proper introductions. Due to his size he has overwhelmed other owners and their dogs but do not let his looks fool you as he is really a gentle giant.
If you would like to meet this classically handsome boy with a big heart and hope for a new family Thor would love to get acquainted soon.
The adoption fee of $300 includes spay-neuter and all vaccines.
Thor is being lovingly cared for in Washington while he awaits his new forever home. .

Alaskan Malamutes are warm and friendly, playful, gentle, intelligent and silly. Their exquisite beauty is the result of centuries of adaptation to the harsh Arctic climate where they lived as close companions to the Mahlemut Eskimos, pulling heavy sledges over terrible terrain in harsh weather.
Malamutes shed twice a year and should be brushed regularly. Since they are so large, they should never be left alone with small children unsupervised, though this is true of any dog.
Malamutes participate in many sports such as backpacking, weight-pulling, carting, sojourning and competition obedience. Their best-known feature is their extraordinary sweetness of temperament.
