Hey! I'm Lakota, and have been the queen of Next-to-Nature in Edmonds for many years. So it will come as a surprise that I am now officially up for adoption, since I am so iconic there - but it is really in my best interest. You'll see...let me start at the beginning:
Lakota is FIV positive. She recently lost her pal Monroe who was also FIV positive. The staff at Next-to-Nature joke that they were married!
Lakota doesn't have any signs of a rough life on the street. It is likely that she contracted her FIV as kitten from her mother.
Lakota is a bit more of an independent girl. She enjoys petting and even some lap sitting, but she is content to entertain herself most of the time.
Because she is extra special - both in personality and in medical needs - GGAA and the folks at Next-to-Nature are going to be really picky about her forever family. It is important they know or really learn about FIV. Regular veterinary visits and good monitoring of her day-to-day health is important. Her forever family should also be interested in natural and holistic care for both of us. She has thrived because of that kind of commitment!
Lakota also loves to be outside - the bugs, the birds, the dirt, the adventure! Sadly the FIV makes it dangerous for other kitties if she were to get into a fight. She is a pacifist in general, but can defend herself when necessary. So is looking for a family with a "cat fenced" yard or an outdoor enclosure where she can enjoy nature safely.
