Period: Probably 18th or 19th century
Entirely hand-woven - not machine woven!

Condition: Excellent, some areas restored but very well done, some fading in the center but in great condition for its age
Uses: as a wall hanging, or consider breaking it down for other art purposes
History:
My husband and I purchased the tapestry in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, in 1992, at an antique gallery on Bennett Street, an area known for antique and furniture dealers. (A copy of the invoice is available if desired.) The original purchase price was $5100 plus tax. I am willing to sell it now for $2900 which includes a separate brass pole for hanging on the wall.
After purchasing the tapestry my husband and I moved to Paris, France and subsequently to London, England. During our 11 years overseas we observed many tapestries on display in museums and galleries. This tapestry has the appearance of a tapestry from Aubusson in southern France, or possibly from Belgium. These types of tapestries tend to have landscape scenes with natural colors.
The tapestry is in excellent condition. Some areas have been restored. There is some fading in the center but it is in excellent condition given its probable age.
We love the tapestry but now live in an apartment and have limited wall space.
